Apologies for the delay in adding Kevin’s wonderful homing photos taken on Friday when I met his lovely new mum and dad who drove all the way from Scotland to adopt him!
The week previously Andy and I had driven him to Devon to a lady desperate to adopt following the loss of her previous greyhound. The elderly lady needed a cat friendly, house trained, good on and off lead, gentle boy but sadly on seeing him she felt he was too big.
Anyway I always say fate plays a hand and due to a post on Facebook following our wasted trip to Devon, he had the offer of this new home.
He travelled like a dream and I’ve had lots of wonderful updates letting me know he has settled in and very happy.
I’m very grateful to Sandra and Martin for meeting us on the M5 to take him for a week to avoid him stopping in kennels and also to those who made a donation to Daybreaks Trust - your support is truly appreciated.
I’m also grateful to his new family for adopting him…. I know he is safe and will have a wonderful life.
We’ve had a wonderful and much needed weekend away and I caught up with ‘heart monitor’ Tommy who is despite his originally poor prognosis is still going strong!!! I’m just hoping my sprained ankle will allow me to drive to the kennels tomorrow!!!!! :-@ x Ruth

So kevin is doing ok , walking much more confidently, still follows me about but not quite so much now I can actually visit the loo on my own ???? . Unfortunately he is not a happy bunny at night , he has a night light radio something that smells of me lots of beds , but he is still crying but now he has uped his game and he is basically trashing the place! Ì would say a work in progress with this 1 xx

Aw bless him, one of our Greys used to carry a slipper around with him, he never chewed it, when he wanted to go into the garden for a wee, he would go looking for his slipper and take it outside with him keeping it in his mouth, it was so cute, Kevin sounds like a super boy, glad he's settled xxxx
Tuesday 19 Jan 17:54
Well our kevin has settled in fine , he is such a loving dog and very laid back . Still a little bit timid but we are building on that . He is so funny . If u leave shoes or slippers in a pair ,wen u return there will only be 1 left ! He is the phantom slipper knicker . He doesn't chew them just nicks them!

Our Kevin went off to his new home today. He had spent the morning wandering around the kennels with Scotty and generally poking his nose into anything and everything! He has a new little friend, Dizzy the Jack Russell. It was with mixed emotions I watched him leave...with all that is going on at the moment he has been a great source of comfort over the last few days, he is a big "puppy" who not only loves being cuddled but likes to give cuddles too. :)) Wishing him a really happy new life. Lots of love to him. Xxx

It was great to see Kevin reserved today. :)) He is such a clown, it took Shirley and I ages to get his coat on this morning. He kept twirling round to look at us and have a cuddle. His coat ended up wrapped around his legs! Xxx

Ah well done Kevin! Xxx

Kevin came with me to Elmdon Park today. He is a very sweet boy, who is really just a puppy still. We met lots of dogs and he was fine with all of them. If anything, I think he was a little wary, despite the fact that he towered over them all!! He also stood nicely for some fuss from a little girl. Congratulations on your reserved sign xx
Thursday 07 Jan 14:18
Oh Kevin, I am so happy to see you have been reserved, well done gorgeous boy xxxx
Wednesday 06 Jan 11:57
Kevin you look and sound like a real sweetheart - I bet Aunty Kate secretly enjoyed being trapped in the run with you for extra cuddles!! Let's hope you get a forever home very soon where you can enjoy all the cuddles in the world. xxx
Tuesday 05 Jan 23:15
Kevin is absolutely adorable! He was so happy to see us this morning when he came out for his breakfast. He just wouldn't let me out of the run, everytime I tried to leave he wanted more cuddles, how could I refuse!? Xxx Shirley and I both want to take him home! :)) He has never raced due to a toe injury and he is still really a puppy!! He has someone coming to see him tomorrow! Xxx
Tuesday 05 Jan 21:53

I had a special visit from Kevin today all the way from Scotland! This was the fella who I drove all the way to Devon a couple of years ago to live with a lady who needed a cat friendly boy to arrive and I was told he was a bit too big! Anyway he has landed on his paws and it was absolutely wonderful to have cuddles with him again. He had a burst in the sand run and then jumped back in the car on his travels again. He and his wonderful owners have made me smile today xxx
