Dougie (Nidge)

male, 7 years old, Black

Added by Stevie,Sarah,Willow&Max'smom

Updated: Monday 01 Jan

Nidge is coming to us from another rescue. They tell us: Nidge was surrendered into us with Sarah and his sister Queen. Their owner was suffering from mental health issues. Nidge is a happy boy! He is very affectionate and playful. Himself and Sarah are kennelled together and they're a great pair. Nidge is best suited with bigger dogs. He gets excited when he sees smallies

Dougie (Nidge) has had 0 cuddles today (6 all together).
If you register or login, you can give him a cuddle too!

It was lovely to see Dougie and his new family today...he is a real character; had to laugh when I heard he stole his new Mums slippers from off her feet! :) Wishing Dougie and his family lots of happy times together. Xxx

Well it has been just over a week since we brought Nidge home & I’m happy to confirm that he has found his forever home & we will be going into Daybreaks tomorrow to turn his sign Green.

He is still ‘work in progress’ but we love him & can’t wait to make it ‘official’!

He also has a new name, ‘Dougie’ aka ‘Doug the Dog’ which he is responding to really well.
Ruth, Kate & Jane, thank you for introducing us to Doug & entrusting him into our care, he is going to be a very much loved member of our family.
On behalf of all the greys & their adoptive families, thank you for everything you do for them & us. You work tirelessly to find them all their special forever home, so just wanted to let you know how much your kindness is appreciated xxx

Well Nidge came home with us yesterday and seems to be settling in really well. No problems with our other 2 greys so far, so keeping my fingers crossed.
He is proving to be a food monster though & is fixated by the fridge & the kitchen bin! He is also quite a thief, from cushions, to slippers, coats, in fact anything that’s not bolted down but he is happy to give them back to you. I think it’s what you call ‘character’. He is also trying to pull the blinds in the lounge, if anyone leaves the room, so helpful!
We have also met dogs of all shapes & sizes out on our walks, only at a distance, as it’s early days. He seems to be more curious than reactive, no barking, just a little whimpering if they are off lead, as though he’s thinking ‘why can’t we join in’?
He’s proving himself to be a much loved addition to the family, with a personality that is going to keep us on our toes!
Ruth, Kate & Jane, thank you so much for introducing us to Nidge, sorry but I don’t think you will be getting him back other than a visit to see his Aunties!!

Nidge is such a great lad he gets on so well with all the other residents in the kennels. We let him out to have a wander around and keep Caesar company this afternoon. Xxx

It was really lovely to see Tracey and her family again and it was brilliant to see Nidge reserved! He got on very well with gorgeous Milo and Casey. He throughly enjoyed having a wander around the kennels and even picked out a martingale collar for himself from the office. Think he was trying to tell Tracey he should go home with her! :)). Xxx

Ruth, thank you so much for introducing us to Nidge today, he found his way into my heart within minutes and also got instant approval from his new brother & sister, Milo & Casey.
We can’t wait to take him home with us next weekend!
It was also lovely to see you all & please say thank you to Kate & the other lovely lady (apologies I don’t know her name) who also instantly knew what to say to ensure that Nidge found his new forever home, mind you I didn’t need persuading, it was love at first sight!
Sending Nidge lots of love & cuddles & a big thank you to Ruth for another successful match made in heaven! Xxx

Nidge made a friend today. One of our volunteers brought her gorgeous little Lurcher in with her. She went out for a walk with Nidge and he loved her company. When they came back, Nidge didn't want to go back to his kennel. They went into the sand run together for a play. :)
Do hope Nidge's forever home comes along soon. He is a very happy, friendly lad. He would be happy on his own but im sure he would love a little girlfriend to share his life with. :)) Xxx

Nidge is back at the kennels. The lady who fostered him said he is quite lively on the lead when he sees anything small and fluffy and she feels he is sadly too strong for her. She says he is a lovely lad who was no trouble at all in her home overnight. He slept through the night with no accidents. She says he is very affectionate and spent the evening cuddled up with her on the sofa. She hopes he will find his forever home very soon. Xxx

I walked Nidge and Sarah together today. After the initial excitement of getting out of the kennels, they walked very well. They make a gorgeous pair. They also travelled together very well to Pets At Home for their baths. I'm not sure that either of them were impressed though by the blow dry. Bless them!! Xx
