Hi All - Monday update on Phoenix aka Finn :-) He's doing super well. He's very relaxed around home - he's following us a bit less because he's a bit more confident this is his forever home. He has three private sleeping spots, under the TV, in the bedroom, and when we're working, right between our desks :-) He's a chow hound for sure but is already learning there is mum and dad food and Finn food, which are two separate things ;-) He's being really great already but he needs the odd reminder. We have two parks next to the house but we're only using one atm so he gets to know his way to and from. Favourite toys: purple llama and licking plate thing. Snacks - treats from you guys plus the odd shape ;-) He's now world famous as my Chinese friend's little girl in Tianjin has fallen in love with him and sent him voice messages :-) Our friends and colleagues in the US are all also Finn fans... I'll post more pics on Facebook. We cannot thank you all enough for taking such good chttp://daybreakstrust.co.uk/dog/2314#are of him before he came to us!

It was lovely to see Phoenix this morning, although I am disappointed for him that it didn't work out this time. He was having a great time with Topsy demanding as much fuss as I could provide in their shared kennel. I actually took Phoenix to Elmdon Park last weekend. He enjoyed the change of scene and having a taste of life beyond the kennels. We met a variety of other dogs. He was a bit reactive to start with, but this did calm down as the walk went on. I'm sure with a few more visits, he'll learn the ropes. He's a sweet boy. I have everything crossed that the right home for him comes along soon xx

Just gutted for you Phoenix, I will leave it at that. Xxxx

Very sadly Phoenix has come back to Daybreaks today. His owners would like to stress he has done absolutely nothing wrong but there have been some family issues. They hope he will soon find his forever home and are sad it cannot be with them. Xxx

His new Mom came to pick him up and his new Nanny was waiting excitedly at home for him to arrive. I had the pleasure of dropping them home and she was quite overwhelmed to meet him. Xxx They had seen him on the website and decided he was the lad for them. :))

Popped into the kennels this morning to pick up a couple of auction items to post out and was in time to give my boy a cuddle just before his new Mum arrived - perfect timing!!

Reading the news from yesterday and the fact there had been no viewings but the hounds had all had good walks and all the usual excellent care, it made me think of all the people who give their time and love even on bank holidays. As a nurse of 43 yrs with the NHS I, like these gentlemen and ladies worked when I was needed, weekends and bank holidays were just another day if your colleagues were struggling on the wards. Why did I do it for all those years? because I loved my chosen profession and people. I believe that is what drives you all at Daybreaks, your love for these beautiful Grey's. You are special people, come rain or shine you are there for them and can I say to you all, thank you for caring and Fat Face Finn agrees xx

Norman took our lovely Phoenix for a visit to the park this morning.
He had a great time and enjoyed all the new sights and sounds!
He was a little excited with seeing other breeds of dogs but this was his first big experience since his arrival at Daybreaks and lots to take in for him. :)) He is a special lad. Xxx

This boy is fabulous. He's friendly, he walks calmly on the lead seems to get on with the other hounds, really loves a cuddle resting his head on (my daughter's )shoulder. I think he will be super addition to someone's family. A d as I've said previously those eyes are so lovely

I wrote this some time ago and thought I would share it with all Grey lovers------- A recipe for a Couch Potato
Take one Greyhound
Add a little patience
Mix in lots of smiles and laughter
Sprinkle liberally with love
Place all ingredients on a soft "pillow" base
And allow to settle

Wondering how Fat neck Finn would feel about a brother? Had his sister the beautiful Nina for 5 years. Seems to like the girls he meets on his walks but a bit indifferent to fellas (although I love the big black lads)

Well Mr Phoenix was another resident happy to see us this morning, and another resident with a lovely clean kennel.

Such an affectionate boy, he just gives off "good vibrations"!! Another cuddle coming his way. xxx

So many lovely hounds looking for their forever home don't know how Fat Neck Finn is going to choose. He is currently trying to lose a little off the hips (if he has as much luck as me in this department, no chance) as he had put on 4kgms over the year. Cutting down the size of meals is going well, and less treats, but I have to change the route of walks as if he meets Dave an old chap with a pocket full of Gravy bone treats, you can forget the diet, equally, we cannot go past the chip shop early evening as anyone eating outside throws him a few chips, and passing Greggs has to be a military operation in case there is a sausage roll dropped on the pavement. At some angles when I look at him I think maybe he is a bit slimmer, but it's maybe the way the light falls on him or wishful thinking, or maybe I should have gone to Specsavers !!!

I came in to use the sand run today and had a lovely cuddle with Phoenix. He is just a beautiful gentle soul. I do hope he finds his forever home soon x

Popped into the kennels this morning to drop something off, and met this gorgeous boy. Well - I am in love again!!! What a stunner - he lapped up all the fuss & cuddles I could offer, and is one of those souls who looks directly into your eyes, and captures your heart.

I know he was quite stressed and overwhelmed on his arrival on Tuesday - but he is now a happy chappy to be at Daybreaks whilst waiting for his lovely new home. xx
