A big cuddle for Joe tonight! He has his wonderful forever home at last. :)) Lots of love to him and his family. Xxx
Monday 02 May 13:58
Oh Joe, this is brilliant news, well done fella xxx
Friday 15 Apr 18:02
Another good day for Joe. Boy he’s an inquisitive hound! A walk along the canal where we met another greyhound (cue much tail wagging). Hoping to meet him again at playgroup tomorrow too. I left him for a short time today while I collected John from where he was (I’m just a taxi driver really) and he settled straightaway.
Friday 15 Apr 07:19
Even hotter news! We went to the cinema yesterday and left Joe for a total of 3 hours and 20 minutes. Doggy spy cam showed him mostly chilled on one of the two dog beds in that room and occasionally standing on the people bed to look out of the window. What a good boy!
Wednesday 13 Apr 22:23
What a super boy Joe is being with you! Cath, thank you so much for everything you are doing for him. Xxx Hoping he will soon have his forever home. Xxx

Hot news! I've been out for an hour and doggy spy cam has shown me Joe relaxed, chilling and snoozing in our back bedroom behind his stair gate. I watched him get up and look out of the window but he quickly went back and settled in his bed. So this time he had radio 4, a pig's nose as we left and some Adaptil sprayed on both dog beds and the people bed in that room. Hmm, looking to repeat this success when we go to the cinema later this week.
Tuesday 12 Apr 07:59
Well done Joe, what an adventure!!!! Xxxxx
Monday 11 Apr 21:24
Bless you Joe, sounds like you're having a wonderful time xxx

Joe has had a fabulous weekend away with us. We went up to Marsden to go to the theatre (yes, I know it’s a long way but it was worth it) and we stayed in a local pub. He was a star in the van while we watched the show and met people and dogs in the pub afterwards. And he slept all night in his own bed. I took him out first thing and he did what he had to. Then it was back to the pub for breakfast and being a very dog friendly place he came to breakfast with us. He was interested as the food came to the table but laid down while we ate. He saw the pub cat, too and wasn’t an eejit but just mildly interested. As usual he travelled home well in his crate in the van.

Today Joe has been working on separation. I had to pop out for about 15 minutes first thing so he went behind his stairgate in the spare room again. Spy cam showed he didn't settle but again, no damage, or mess. So when I got back I left him there and did some work at my PC in an adjacent room. So long as he was quiet he got a chicken foot (yummy, apparently). And he seemed to learn what was required for another treat and stayed quiet for about an hour (periodically scoffing the goodies that dropped over the stairgate for him). He has also voluntarily spent about 15 minutes downstairs without me while I attended to a monstrous pile of clean washing that I'd been ignoring for several days. That's progress (him staying without me, not the washing pile). Off for our second walk of the day shortly - dodging the snow showers.
Thursday 31 Mar 20:40
So today Joe has done another short walk with the oldies and a BIG 5 miler with the piglet. He’s seen geese, sheep and more small dogs and not shown any interest. He chilled in the van for an hour or so while I browsed (and failed to choose) new curtains at a well known soft furnishing outlet.
But the big news is he was left for 2 hours today. Whilst he didn’t totally relax (we have doggy spy cams) there was no damage or mess. He was left behind a tall stair gate in the room he sleeps in with the Tv on in an adjacent room. Maybe he didn’t like the repays that were on?
Thursday 31 Mar 08:49
So funny, he sounds a real character bless him xxxxx
Wednesday 30 Mar 21:50
If Joe is a good gardener he can come and sort out my garden for me! :)) Xxx
Wednesday 30 Mar 21:28
Oops Joe lol! You never know he might be good at helping you garden! Xxx
Wednesday 30 Mar 19:50
Well today the eejit has chewed a door stop and helped himself to two of my gardening books (apparently he’s interested in perennials and clematis) but the BIG news is that he slept from 10pm to 7am AND he was left for half an hour and was a good boy. He was also very well behaved on a zoom call this afternoon and is now flat out after a second walk and his tea.
Wednesday 30 Mar 16:26
Ah, well done Joe - you are certainly making the most of your time in a foster home and showing what a fabulous boy you are. Carry on having fun and being good. xxx
Tuesday 29 Mar 15:38
Another good 24 hours for Joe. He slept from 10pm ish to almost 6am. And when he barked to get up he did want a wee so he was asking to go out. He’s had 2 walks today - a short one with the oldie dogs and then an hour along the canal with our small dog. He met more dogs (including a nasty whippet - who knew whippets could have such attitude?), people and he also stood alongside as a boat motored out of a lock and wasn’t bothered by the noises. Spread the word, Joe is a cracker.
Monday 28 Mar 10:18
So, first night/morning with Joe. He’s a live wire! But how lovely to see such a friendly, inquisitive lad. He’s loving life.
He settled well and lay on the kitchen mat while I prepared and served people tea. And laid in one of the many dog beds while we ate (off low-ish) tables. He loved his own food although I think we’ll use a slow feeder today.
He’s found the toy box and worked out how to get the toys out if it (even though I’d put them all away). Today he’s enjoyed shredding our weekly TV guide and has now crashed out in the sunshine outside. Not a bad start despite some singing and shouting in the dormitory last night. To be continued…..
Sunday 27 Mar 21:43

Sunday 20 Mar 22:32
Sounds like Joe had an interesting trip to the park! It would be so good to see him find his forever home. Such a great lad with so much love to give. Xxx
Sunday 20 Mar 16:43
Joe came with me to Elmdon Park today. He is such a handsome boy. He was so excited when I went in to lead him up and was very happy to be out of his kennel. He walked well and enjoyed all the new smells in the park. We met dogs of all sizes and he said hello politely to them all. Whilst he behaved perfectly with all the dogs he met, I did get the impression that he was tolerating some of them rather than enjoying meeting them. One little teddy bear dog ran at him and he jumped about ten foot in the air and then stood about a meter away from him with a look as if to say 'what did you do that for?'! Bless him, for a big boy he seemed little bemused by a small dog with a big personality! He loves his fuss and happily let some children stroke him. Here's hoping that someone falls for this affectionate and happy boy very soon xx
Friday 11 Mar 21:54
Joe is such a character. We always put him in the big feeding run as he enjoys a good bounce and romp about - and tries to encourage the other dogs to join in his fun! He has been in kennels far too long, and should really have his own family to play with. Cuddles for him tonight. Xx
Wednesday 02 Mar 22:48
Oh dear, Joe is such a great boy, he really deserves a great forever home.
Wednesday 02 Mar 20:41
Joe is a very happy, bouncy lad! He has a little race on his own around the feeding run when he comes out for his breakfast. :)) He really is a lovely lad and will be a great friend and companion to the special person who takes him home. :)) Xxx
Wednesday 02 Mar 16:01

Thursday 03 Feb 23:30
It was Joe's turn to be neutered today. We were all very pleased for him as two of our girls have only just come out of season and poor Joe's hormones were all over the place, making him very stressed! :(
He was such a good boy in the car, we had Tiggy with us too as she has hurt a paw and also needed to see the vet. Xxx
Many thanks to Richard for picking him up for us this afternoon. Joe was so very quiet even when he came out for his dinner, which he throughly enjoyed. :) Hoping he will feel better tomorrow. Xxx
Sunday 30 Jan 21:39

Joe is a really happy, friendly lad. Do hope he will soon find his forever home. Xxx
Tuesday 04 Jan 13:26
Joe had a lovely Christmas with his foster family, they say he is an all round great dog - he is very loving and likes to lie at your feet or next to you on the sofa.
They say he still needs to learn some boundaries about personal space - he does like to lick your face!
He generally walked well on the lead, not aggressive but very interested in smaller dogs and particularly those off lead.
Because he is a big, boisterous lad, he would probably be better in a home with either older children or no children.
He got on well with the two other greyhounds in the family - Joe soon found his place in the pack and was happy to fall in with their routines.
Joe is very food orientated and will eat his food quickly. The family feel he needs help and training to understand that all food is not his.
Joe is able to go up and down stairs and slept happily on his own bed in their bedroom.
He was left with the other two hounds on several occasions with no problems.
They feel he would be OK to live with other greyhounds. He travels well in the car and is the perfect passenger.
The family say he would make a great pet, he is a fast learner but has one bad habit - trying to drink out of the toilet!
xxx

I just wanted to let you all know that Joe has settled in beautifully. He is so loving and affectionate. He's a little stinker for pinching food but apart from that I can't fault him at all. He loves lying in his bed by the radiator and having cuddles. My boys are adore him and he adores us already. So happy that we could give him a home <3 xxx
Sunday 28 Nov 20:46

Tuesday 02 Nov 10:35
Joe is a super boy who walks beautifully on his lead providing there are no distractions!! Tina was flirting with him so that interested him. Squirrel in the distance interested him and a fluffy little dog who was quietly walking past elicited a lot of excitement. Possibly the first time he'd seen an 'other' breed. Back in his kennel he is a big softie. He is a very handsome and lovely young man. Xxxx
Sunday 24 Oct 21:54

Joe, now called Bertie, is settling in well with us in Herefordshire. He is such a foodie. Thanks to Cath for preparing him for us. He's a fairly bright dog so I'm hoping he'll pick up our routines pretty quickly.......
